Using Boom Cards in the elementary classroom is a no-brainer! Are you looking for a way to quickly gauge where your students are in the learning process without having to correct 30 more worksheets? Boom Cards are the perfect way to see who is grasping a concept and who needs a bit more practice…in a no-prep, no correcting, no fuss way! Students love that they are playing a “game” and teachers love that there is n0-prep and immediate feedback to drive instruction. This makes them a classroom favorite for many teachers. Don’t know what BOOM CARDS are? I’ve got you…let’s dive in!
What Are Boom Cards?
Boom Cards are digital task cards that give students immediate feedback. Students access a “deck” of Boom Cards through a link. The deck can be played at your students’ own pace and once they complete a question they are given immediate feedback about their answer. They will either get a “ding” which means they are correct and can move on or an “uh-oh” which means they should try that again. Decks come in all shapes and sizes – the designs, number of cards in a deck, and themes are endless. Students love the interactive noises and the game-like feel of these cards. Using Boom Cards in the elementary classroom is an easy way to integrate technology, student interests, and the curriculum. The instant feedback students get is AMAZING. Plus – teachers can get detailed reports that are perfect for formative assessment data. Check out these Boom Cards!
When Do I Use Boom Cards?
The beauty of Boom Cards is not only are they no-prep and give students immediate feedback, but there are Boom Cards for almost every topic you can think of: math, reading, science, social studies, language, grammar, the list goes on! Plus, since they are digital you can assign them to anyone at any time! Teach online? Send your students a link using the “fast pin” button and they can immediately access and play without signing up for anything. Have a student out sick? Give them access to a few review decks to help them keep up with the classroom curriculum. Use them during computer math centers and watch your students fall in love with Boom Cards (plus…I think you will, too!)
